Witness on our journey

On a beautiful Saturday at the end of August, 40-odd young people from St Mark's Bellerive, Wellspring Sandy Bay, Hope, and Edge Claremont all climbed onto a coach for a journey to Launceston.

The destination? Expose 08 - the annual Youth Alive concert at the Silverdome.

There was great excitement as the bus filled, and off we went. The journeys there and back were uneventful, the driver lovely and there were plenty of tractors to keep us amused with counting games...for five minutes.

We arrived about an hour early, enjoyed a bbq, some music, and general state-wide catching up, then everyone headed indoors for the event. I have to admit straight out that this kind of event isn't really my thing, but most of the teenagers there seemed to have a fantastic time. (I feel so old saying that!)

We danced, moshed, sang, listened, prayed, learned, and danced a little more.

As we left the Silverdome to return home, we prayed, and the bus driver kindly asked, 'Would you like the lights off to pray?'

I don't know her background, but to me it was a poignant reminder that we are here to witness on our journey, not just enjoy the destination.
