Wedding bells and changing times

From the Parish of Kingston

'It's all happening here' has been the message in the weeks following Easter.

Great celebrations, as this parish congratulated George (Churchwarden Emeritus) and Claire Palmer, and Tony and Audrey Field, on their 50th Wedding Anniversaries. Tony and Audrey were married in St John's, Felixstowe, Suffolk, England on 2 April 1952. George and Claire were married at St John the Baptist, West Hobart on 12 April 1952.

With praise and worship the congregation of St Clement's gathered around the two couples to thank God for their faithfulness, and to pray for His continuing blessing on their lives.

Record

At that same service on the 7th April, the Rev'd Ross Chopping and Mrs Wendy Chopping were farewelled in preparation for their move to the Parish of Glenorchy. Ross, noting that he must have 'served the longest curacy on record 1982 - 2002', was given an appropriate farewell barbecue - in Church! That was after being escorted into the building on a high powered motor bike.

Hats on

To commemorate his varied duties during his time at Kingston, hats denoting those duties were presented to him. A cake, suitably iced and annotated was cut, presentations made and prayers offered.

Further celebration

Saturday the 13th April saw a further celebration as the Parish Youth Pastor, Heath Lorkin married Crossroads Leader, Marian McGowen. St Clement's was wonderfully full with invited guests including the Parish, for Holy Matrimony in the context of Holy Communion.
